PortCo Climate Risk and Sustainability Workshop
UK Private Equity Manager, €6bn AUM
Client Overview
A private equity firm with portfolio companies across the UK and Europe, needed to strengthen sustainability engagement and build understanding of climate-related financial risks within its portfolio.
With companies varying in size and sustainability maturity, we tailored our approach to meet the diverse needs. Alongside the GP’s defined sustainability expectations, portfolio companies needed a clearer view of the value creation potential, and practical guidance on identifying and adapting to financially material climate risks, particularly given evolving reporting requirements such as TCFD and ISSB.
Objective
Danesmead Advisory was engaged to deliver a focused workshop that:
Highlighted the commercial value of sustainability;
Explained how climate risks translate into material financial impacts and how to mitigate these; and
Provided a clear foundation for TCFD aligned climate risk management and reporting for our client across a diverse set of portfolio companies.
Key Actions
Danesmead delivered a commercially grounded, hands-on workshop-style training session covering sustainability value creation and climate‑related financial risks, drawing on practical and accessible climate science insights.
Tailored messaging to suit portfolio companies of different sizes, sectors, and sustainability maturity levels, ensuring relevance across UK‑ and Europe‑based teams.
Connected climate‑risk concepts to TCFD expectations, helping portfolio companies understand how risk identification, governance, and metrics support business resilience.
Facilitated an interactive Q&A prompting portfolio companies to explore how climate risks may manifest in their own contexts, and what steps can strengthen resilience and support TCFD aligned reporting for our GP client.
Ensured alignment with the GP’s wider climate risk strategy, positioning the training as an enabler of portfolio level readiness for future reporting expectations.
Results
Stronger portfolio‑wide buy‑in, enabling the GP to progress sustainability and climate‑risk initiatives and achieve objectives with significantly improved engagement and cooperation.
Portfolio companies gained the foundational knowledge needed to begin assessing and managing climate risks, regardless of their starting maturity.
The GP is now positioned with a solid base for TCFD‑aligned portfolio reporting, supported by more informed, engaged, and climate‑literate portfolio company management teams.
